Starting A garden in 2020

Spring is the perfect time to start a garden! Ideally, you might want to start planning what you want to grow during the winter, but it is never too late to start your garden!

1. Choose the right place for your garden

Hard to believe you can grow plants in almost any place, today we are talking about choosing the best one!
When you decide to start a garden, you might want to find the spots in your yard that get the most sun and light during the day. To find out that, just take a look outside on the wanting spot each two hours and check where’s the sun at 10am, then 12am, come back at 2pm and if the sun still shines that area at 4pm, you just found your perfect spot!
Most plants need 6-8 hours of sun per day, but some of them will do amazing even in 4 hours of sun and even shaded areas.
Keep on mind the way sun shines will change from season to season, from country to country. Do your research according to your zone.

2. Choose the right soil

There are so many ways to improve your garden soil, to buy new one and even make your own! Depending on your time and preferences, you can choose the one that fits your needs best!
I personally find it on hand to make my own and it’s also the cheapest way!
Usually, i mix in half garden soil, half homemade compost from kitchen scraps.
Rich in minerals and nutrients, it’s not only easy and free to make, but i feel like it feeds my plant the best and it assures them a successful growing.

3. Choose the plants you want to grow

Most beginner gardeners get maybe a little too excited and buy many different seeds to grow, before they do a research about each of them. The lack of experience might be the cause for an unsuccessful harvest. To avoid that, make sure you take it step by step. Start small!
Check your grocery list and see what fruits and veggies you buy the most. You’ll probably notice there tomatoes, potatoes, onions, peppers. Pick some and start planning your garden!

Considering what’s going on in the world right now, we should be much more aware of the importance of growing our food.

Hopefully, the future will be bright for us after all this craziness with the coronavirus ends, but even so, we should all learn and enjoy to grow a little food supply for us and our family.

Stay home & stay safe!
